The day and probably the world ended!

Auchencorth Moss

It started to get worse...

Tonight was stormy

Haar

The Wandering photographer and the locals now enveloped in the fog... time to go home :-)

Ah Haar!

Cold swirling fog rolling in from the sea!

Auchencorth Moss... looking the other way

Hmmmm there are supposed to be hills there!

But what is that in the distance rolling in....

Fishing nets

Rosebay Willowherb

In the evening sun...

Near Beeswing, Dumfries

The first night there was thunder and lightning and torrential rain - second - it was hazy - a very difficult light

Orchardton Tower, near Dalbeattie

Looking out!

Light still a bit flat...

Tweedsmuir Kirk

Flowers in the window.

Devil's Beef Tub, near Moffat

Atmospheric on the way home - but at least the sun was out - for scale, you can just see the road on the top of the hill on the right

Solway Firth

Been away for a few days - weather was bad :-)

Another quiet evening looking over the Pentlands

Hole in the sky

A quiet evening not much happening

Tuesday, 22 July 2008

Suddenly there was a hole, Ninemileburn

The weather was really overcast and I thought I may not get an image tonight - but this presented itself for my eager clicking finger!

Nothing special... near Peebles

Cockenzie Power Station

Stopped on the way home to snap the power station

North Berwick

Looking across the Firth of Forth. The Lomond Hills can be seen in the far distance.

North Berwick Law

Sporting its new whalebones on the top

North Berwick

Another distant shower

North Berwick

A passing shower - fortunately it passed well away from me!

North Berwick beach

Middle of summer and it was cold!

Waves, North Berwick

Inhabitant of North Berwick

Littorina litorea, commonly known as periwinkle or winkle for short, making a long journey. This was a tiny one!

This is North Berwick High Street

I've frequently shown images of the sea at North Berwick but this is the first of the High Street!

Last of the sun - time for home and a bit of blogging

The White House

Friday night on the moor 2

Unfortunately the sun came out briefly

Friday night on the moor

The evening started out promising... honest!

Calm sea at Port Seton

Nothing but murky sea and murky sky... apart from a very distant ship and a few birds! It was raining when I took this.... time to go home:-)

Cockenzie Power Station

One of my favourite locations with the added bonus of rainbow colours caused by the sun on the steamy emissions - Wow!!

The Firth of Forth from Musselburgh

Peaceful sea

Musselburgh harbour mud

No posts since Sunday - been away working unfortunately! Am back now and will start off with some glorious mud!

Beeswing, Dumfries and Galloway

Ok, just one more because I like the clouds

Wandering photographer... on location

Beeswing, Dumfries and Galloway

Wrought iron

A bit of nature, Beeswing, Dumfries and Galloway

Scottish thistle!

Drumcoltran Tower, Kirkgunzeon, Dumfries and Galloway

In the graveyard, Sweetheart Abbey

Near Drumcoltran, Dumfries and Galloway

No outing would be complete without some interesting clouds!

Sweetheart Abbey, Dumfries and Galloway

Sweetheart Abbey was difficult to photograph! Dark red sandstone, deep shadows strong contrasts. Here are a few.

From Southerness, Dumfries and Galloway

It was difficult to look at anything other than the lighthouse, but here is a view across the Solway Firth towards the Lake District

Southerness Lighthouse, Dumfries and Galloway

OK, this is the last one!

Southerness Lighthouse, Dumfries and Galloway

Naturally, the wandering photographer took a few snaps!

Southerness Lighthouse, Dumfries and Galloway

Wandering down the road there was a low light - and there was this thing just standing there - stunning white against the dark cloudy sky behind

Across the Solway Firth

The wandering photographer spent a couple of days in Dumfries and Galloway. Evening stroll saw some interesting lighting.

Just one more on the way home

Out and about in the Meldons

This is actually the Moorfot Hills taken from near the Meldons!

A good Scottish sky - I'm sure the sheep was enjoying it too as well as the non-rain!

Fountain, Princes Street Garden, Edinburgh

Detail of this fine full-flowing fountain

Edinburgh Castle

Today was a typical wet weekend day - to add to the rain the fountain was in full flow! The photographer took shelter under a convenient tree to quickly snap this one on the way back from a shopping trip. A 'dreich' day!

Sometimes you just have to smile

Coldingham Priory graveyard. Scotland is VERY wet today, so this is from a few weeks ago!

Study of a stinger

The avid blog watcher will have noticed a fall off in posts recently - cause: Chinese flu - or, more correctly flu from China however, I did manage an early morning shot of the sun shining through the nettles in front of the house - boy, was it early for a Saturday morning with a flu hangover!
