Edinburgh Airport control tower

Now back home after a very brief trip away to a good Scottish sky!

Hartland, Devon

I was standing with my back to the the top of a very high cliff - it was very windy!

This morning in Hartland, Devon

I stayed in the wee house in the centre... it was still drizzling and VERY windy but I was determined to get a picture!

Hartland, Devon

It was almost dark and there was a very buffeting wind - so I was lucky to get this as the exposure was quite long :-)

I arrived here late last night... it was raining!

Pictures from Saturday

There was rain tonight and the moor was very wet and misty so I thought I would put up some brighter images from Saturday!

Auchencorth Moss tonight!

Monday and we have a sunny day from Blackford Hill

You won't believe this but 10 minutes earlier was a torrential shower of rain :-)

This was a superb bench - made by a true artist/craftsman!

Auchencorth Moss, red bow

While the sunset was burning away to the west - its brightness was causing a red bow (red rainbow) to the east!

Sunset rays over the Pentland Hills

It came, shone and vanished in little more than a few minutes!

Auchencorth Moss

Lots of weather coming in tonight... with rain... again!

Blackford Hill walkies!

Went for a walk up Blackford Hill at lunchtime. The hill is a great place to go to watch the weather in Edinburgh - it is forever changing and conveniently there are seats where the wandering photographer can sit and get his heart rate down to avoid camera shake - it is a steep climb!

Auchencorth Moss

The last of the sunset

After dark... you can just see the lights from the farm on the left!

Tonight was at least dry... I waited until just after dark to catch these two!

St. Mary's Kirkyard, Scottish Borders

This is one of the best locations for a graveyard I've come across! Just caught the light as there was a lot of cloud rolling in.... as it does!

St. Mary's Loch, Scottish Borders

I should rename this blog to 'chasing the light' - it comes out in patches and very infrequently!

A few images at Talla in the Scottish Borders

Sunday morning in the garden

Took a few minutes off clearing out the rhones... everything is very wet after another night of heavy rain!

Meldon Hills, Scottish Borders

The blog watcher seeing all these sunny images may think it was like this all day - it wasn't and we are back to heavy rain!

Meldon Hills, Scottish Borders

Looking south!
Patch of sunlight

It rained all day today (Saturday). Went out early evening in the rain to the Meldon Hills (15 minutes away). Like magic, it stopped raining and for a few brief minutes the sun poked through the cloud in fast moving patches... a few clicks and that was it... sun gone!

Dunblane Cathedral - pagan symbols

Pagan symbols were common in early Christian churches. The Green Man is a frequently found symbol (top).

Dunblane Cathedral - stained glass

Dunblane cathedral - outside

Dunblane Cathedral, built upon a Christian site first established by Saint Blane around the year 600 AD, is one of the few surviving medieval churches in Scotland.

Images from three weeks ago... An ancient mill that is still working. A very interesting place - I like the available light images!

This was tuesday night....

This is the best weather we have had since Tuesday. It started to rain and hasn't stopped since... its still raining!

Greyfriars Kirkyard

Made a rare visit to the centre of Edinburgh for shopping - despite been laden down with bags and the heavy rain showers I diverted to Greyfriars Kirkyard for a few minutes. It is one of the most historic in Scotland. It is huge and has very large mural monuments and some very ancient stones. This is just a few quick shots.

Yesterday's grass, Dirleton Gardens

Its lunchtime on Sunday and I haven't taken ANY photos today I'll blame the heavy rain again - so here is some grass from yesterday!

Five minutes earlier we had torrential rain and the roads were flooded - now sunshine!

Mistake!

VXFY has a theme this week entitled: 'Mistake: Sometimes a picture that seems broken (not sharp, too much light, not correctly framed, moving subject) at first, turns out to be nice after all'
last weekend I was in this ancient tower house with a tight spiral staircase, I was leaning over with a very wide angle lens to get a shot vertically down without getting my feet in the picture and lost my balance - the shutter ws accidently tripped - this is the result - not sure about the ' nice after all' especially with the offending ghostly feet in the picture - the very ones I was trying to avoid!
